Memorial Day weekend fun
I'm doing a quick little '83 Shovelhead reconditioning before Summer festivus begins. This thing should be thumping and blinging when I get done with it. Have a fun holiday . FTW.
Harley Davidson oil filter visual seperation .
Summer is here, it's time to ride . Some people take their bike to the local dealership and pay a bunch of money to have their oil changed and some do it themselves at home. Some people arent doing to well in the economic times and have to rely on the help of friends to get their bikes running. By this I mean the old question of, "Dude, do you have a few quarts of oil and maybe a filter?" I've done it, you've done it and if you haven't you will soon . Some people arent organzied or lose packaging or just plain ol don't really know what they have or where they got it from. Here is a few pics to help you determine what oil filter you are putting on your motorcycle . These pics pertain to Harley Davidson oil filters for Harley Davidson Evo ( pre '99) and Twin Cam motors ('99- '05). Please dont listen to me if you dont have one of these motors because this information may be different . Hope this helps some of you wondering wtf filter you are about to run on your bike.
2010 Summer starts ..
As I sat and watched the first walls go up @ FDR .. I never thought it would turn into what it has 15 years later .... Many sacrifices were made by many people to start that project and keep it going strong . Props to the 215 / 610 crew, warehouse guys, potheads and all else who did what had to be done to make FDR a reality. If you can get to this event you will not be disappointed .. .
RIP Frank Frazetta – Death Dealer .
Frank Frazetta, an illustrator whose vivid colors and striking brushstrokes conjured up fantastic worlds of musclebound heroes fighting with broad swords and battle axes to defend helpless women from horrible beasts, died on Monday in Fort Myers, Fla. He was 82.
The death, caused by a stroke, was confirmed by Rob Pistella and Steve Ferzoco, his business managers. In a telephone interview, Mr. Pistella said that Mr. Frazetta, who had a history of strokes, had returned from a Mother’s Day dinner with his family on Sunday night and fell ill. Emergency medical services were called and Mr. Frazetta was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
In the 1940s and 50s, Mr. Frazetta drew for comic strips like Al Capp’s “Lil’ Abner” and comic books like “Famous Funnies,” for which he contributed a series of covers depicting the futuristic adventurer Buck Rogers. He also had his own newspaper strip that ran from 1952 to 1953, called “Johnny Comet” (later retitled “Ace McCoy”).
He drew the movie poster for “What’s New Pussycat?” in 1964, and hit his stride executing detailed illustrations of pulp heroes like Conan the Barbarian and John Carter of Mars for their comic magazines and books. His realistic renderings of otherworldly scenarios (and barely clad women) made him the ideal candidate to illustrate the album covers for popular heavy metal albums like Molly Hatchet’s “Flirtin’ With Disaster” and Nazareth’s “Expect No Mercy.”
Twin Cam “A” & “B” motor – the difference .
Pictured below is the major difference between a Harley Davidson Twin Cam "A" & "B" motor (other than the engine cases being different etc..) This is the balance system found in the Harley Davidson Softail motors from 2000 - present. There is no balancing system in the Twin Cam "A" motor from a Dyna or Touring bike. The Sportster and Vrod have enitrley different powertrain set ups. . In case you ever wondered , here is a pic .
America rules
Its the only place on earth where you can see fine customization such as this . I bet this guy whips thru the twistys and has no problem evading high speed pursuit .
